If it does, you should be able to come back with a needle to open it up.Overall, I thought these made great surround speakers and okay main speakers. As the water evaporates, the paint should not block off the little holes in the grill. They may be going for the "modern look" of in-wall speakers. I have them installed as front, upper, and surround left/right with a Klipsch Synergy C3 center channel and 2 Polk Audio PSW-10 subs.I think I got the pair for something around $100. If you're using it as surround speakers with a proper center channel and subs, then you can balance all of that and get a nice power balance across all frequencies as various volumes. Some may not care all that much about power curves, frequency bands, etc. Water down the paint with maybe a 1:10 water:paint ratio.
Don't worry if it looks like the paint will dry as a web into the grill. The overall quality is very good. Frequency response gets tinny as high power when the efficiency of the horn takes over and the cone driver can't keep up. These are great for this kind of application. The plastic cone woofer is very rigid and light weight. This is a great speaker that I'm using for my surround speakers in a Dolby PLII-z setup.
The horn is NOT positionable, but in my application (6 surround speakers), it doesn't really matter anyway. The sound quality is awesome for the price point, but lackluster if you want to use it as a main speaker. I found that painting the grill to match my walls a bit tricky.
I have M&Ks, and this integrates well with older speakers that cost thousands of dollars. Good on highs, maybe little too bright for main applications, but excellent choice for surround usage. Rare bargain from Amazon.
I bought these to add some additional sound to the living room which is adjacent to the main surround sound system (5-Klipsch Quintets, 1 Infinity sub)in the "media" room. I would have been happy with these at 3x the cost. Enjoy.Klipsch Synergy KHW-5 In-Wall Loudspeaker (Pair, Black) Great speakers. Very easy to install. The highs are great and when paired with a cental subwoofer, the whole package works well.
They sound great and were very easy to install. The seller was very quick getting the speakers to me. Hard to beat these, especially at the price offered.
They are also ruggedly built, and their in-wall design allows them to disappear in the room. Like most Klipsch speakers, the KHW-5s are very efficient. We were able to design a very nice surround system without breaking the bank. We purchased a pair of Klipsch KHW-5 in-wall speakers for use as surround speakers in our living room. The KHW-5s surprised me and are an excellent value with very good sound quality, especially given the price. For the money, they would be hard to beat for our application.
